Ever wonder who are the people who work behind the scene providing you with prompt response whenever you send in a technical related helpdesk ticket to Exabytes? Featuring the department with the most number of staff, and handles the most crucial duty not only to Exabytes, but to its 30,000+ customers – The technical wizards of Exabytes – Penang Team.

While our KL technical team is always occupied with the task of monitoring the servers, our technical wizards in Penang are responsible for answering all the technical questions our clients might have, and most importantly finding solutions for technical problems arise as well as carrying out Exabytes’ standard follow-ups until the problems are solved.

Not only that, our techies in the department also handle server migration, ensure and maintain reserve/network uptime, network/server security, etc.

Their job scope is wide and versatile, their tasks crucial and irreplaceable. Not only are they the technical backbone of Exabytes, they are the people who work day and night which include public holidays to provide 24×7 professional technical assistance to our valued clients. And all these hard work and dedicated stunts, are managed and overseen by a very talented and brilliant person, MR TL Guan, our Technical Manager!!

TL Guan – Our Technical Manager

Guan has specialized in network and server security ever since he joined Exabytes. An outstanding technical person, he ensures the network and servers of the company are in the best condition and not susceptible to hacking. Besides, he is also the person who is chiefly in charge of maintaining reserve/network uptime.

A workaholic and a truly assertive young man, please don’t talk to him when he is working on something. It doesn’t make a difference if you still want to do so, as you can be assured that he will not respond to you. One ‘frustrated’ colleague once indicated that he believed if one day the office was on fire, Guan would surely be the last one to realize it, as he was always so engrossed in his work.

As the most important person in the department, Guan believes in treating all his subordinates equally and preferring everyone to treat him as a friend instead of a manager after work.

Second down the throne is our Assistant Technical Manager, MR David Ch’ng. Unofficially voted as one of the most good-looking persons in Exabytes, David’s look suggests what lies within. Very decent looking and polite in nature, David is deemed the MR Nice Guy of Exabytes.

Dave’s main tasks include assisting our Technical Manager, TL Guan ‘unconditionally’ and doing research on prospective products. A believer of teamwork and responsibility, Dave draws great satisfaction from successfully solving problem faced by clients together with his team members.

Next is the avid filmmaker of short comedy-clips of Exabytes, Gaveen Khor. An affable guy by nature, he was among the last 10 finalists of ‘Cadbury Chocettes Small Doses of Happiness Championship’ last year and many other funny and humorous short-clip making competitions.

Gaveen possesses a strange sense of humor, or what is more known as ‘mou lei tao’ humor (Stephen Chow’s type of humor). ‘Joker’ is his nickname; Gaveen has never failed in making a lot of us laugh in the office.

When it comes to work, he has the endless curiosity to investigate, and the great patience in listening to his clients. Gaveen’s goal is to see more and more Malaysian businessmen bringing their businesses online.

The subsequent techie is the muscle man of Exabytes, also known as JY Teh or the person who is able to do more than 100 push-ups at one go! His muscle is as hard as a rock and his shoulders are as wide as a cornfield. To many of us, he is a very quiet person who speaks only when spoken. But if you know him well, you will find him quite a conversationalist especially when it comes to the things he likes.

At work, Teh believes that ‘logic’ is the one thing one need to have when it concerns the work of a system engineer. Besides, he places great importance on understanding clients’ enquiries and is a firm believer of being responsible for everything one has done.

The next person in the department is HP Beng, or more fondly known as Ah Beng. Unlike what we usually perceive ‘Ah Beng’, our Ah Beng at Exabytes is a very hardworking person who doesn’t forget to joke around even when he is super busy. Gentle in his approach, we have never seen him getting angry even once ever since he joined Exabytes.

Professionally, Beng enjoys picking up latest technology be it in hardware or software. When facing technical problems or difficulties, Beng’s rule of thumb is always get down to the root cause of the problem in order to solve it completely.

Coming up next is the shyest person in the company, MR KC Yeap aka MR Shy Guy of Exabytes. Being secretive is his weapon as he seldom reveals his personal affairs to us. Apart from this, you can make jokes and poke fun at him but rest assured that he will still carry a smiling face. So as time passes, no one in the office wants to make fun of him anymore.

Work wise, KC believes that one must always have the passion and desire to continuously upgrade his knowledge and skills in technology. His rule of thumb when solving technical problems for clients is always suggest another solution if the initial solution is impossible.

Subsequently, is the most eloquent person at Exabytes, TS Ooi. Best known for speaking straight to the point, TS is one person who doesn’t like to beat around the bush. Because of his expressiveness and terse vocabulary, clients often find his explanations crystal clear and easy to understand.

When concerning work, TS believes that observation and troubleshooting skills are of utmost importance. A cheerful person by nature, he never forgets to incorporate fun into his daily tasks.

Next is the person with the most special name, Ee Dawn. Best known as the cupid or matchmaker in the office, Ee Dawn knows everybody’s hobbies and personalities like the back of her hand. Although her matchmaking efforts are sacred, but so far she hasn’t been successful in any attempt. Way to go, Dawn.

Professionally, Dawn places self-learning ability as the most important attribute for a system engineer. Besides, she enjoys working in an environment where all her colleagues are her friends.

Moving on is the tallest young man in the whole department, Arren Tan. Versatile and flexible, Arren can be serious one second and be extremely funny the next. A very sociable soul, Arren prides himself in making friends with strangers easily and enjoys interacting with friends and customers.

Because of his socializing ability, Arren will be leaving Technical Department soon for Business Development Department – International Division. Arren we wish you all the best!

EK Lim aka Ah Keat

EK Lim, aka Ah Keat, is the next person to be introduced. As his name ‘Keat’ sounds something like ‘great’ in Hokkien, we always tease him with his name. At work, Ah Keat enjoys solving technical problems for clients as he thinks there is always something for him to learn and gain experience in every single case.

Next is the very young man in the department, KK Kwan. An avid football fan, Kwan will stick to the telly whenever there is a tournament going on. At work, his everyday high is learning how to tackle different technical issues on different web applications. His dream is to publish some really sophisticated cool stuff on his own website one day.

Last but not least, is the most junior person, YL Neoh. If you happen to take a stroll along the beaches at Tg Tokong or Tg Bungah over the weekends chances are high that you will see her fishing at one of these famous spots.

As a system engineer, YL Neoh always puts herself in customers’ shoes to find out what issues they are really facing. Besides, she also enjoys taking up new challenges and she believes that passion is what keeps her motivated.

This wraps up the feature of our Technical Department, or the technical backbone of Exabytes. As the nature of their work is usually behind the scene, they might never have the chance to meet you in person and explain to you various technical issues in greater detail. However, it’s undeniably true that we at Exabytes and many of our clients are thankful to their hard work and dedication.

Way to go, the technical wizards of Exabytes!
